Executive Recruitment

Welcome to Salford from the Strategic Director, People, Charlotte Ramsden

Dear Candidate,

Thank you for your interest in this crucial role at Salford City Council. I am very proud of being the Strategic Director for People here and have been the DCS since October 2014.

Our ambition is “To enable every child and young person in Salford to achieve their potential.” We have a strong value base here, with a commitment to Pride, Passion, People and Personal Responsibility. We are committed to enabling a better and fairer Salford for all and the children, young people and families of Salford are central to this ambition.

Salford become a “Good” authority as judged by Ofsted in May 2015 and following ILAC inspection in October 2018, retained that grading with a very strong report. Salford is a dynamic and innovative place to work and partnership working in the City is excellent. As a result we have been able to create fully integrated budgets with the CCG across Adults, Children and Primary Care from April 2019, building on a long history of integration within adult services. Salford staff are passionate, innovative and work as part of a great team, with stable management and strong support systems.

Salford plays a key role in the development and implementation of the Greater Manchester Children’s Plan and this is leading to opportunities for innovation within Salford and with neighbouring authorities, within which you would play a crucial role. In addition as chair of the ADCS committee for Health Care and Additional Needs, I depend upon my senior leaders to support the work of ADCS and to engage actively in the opportunities this brings.

In taking responsibility for Children’s Social Care and related services, you will be critical to the future of delivering quality services for the best outcomes for the people of Salford. You will need the confidence and skill to deliver but as a learning organisation, opportunities for development abound.

You will be joining at a time of implementing integrated commissioning arrangements with the CCG, rolling out the No Wrong Door methodology thanks to funding from DfE and the CCG and continuing to embed and develop our early help integrated neighbourhood systems. All this in addition to continuing a relentless focus on the highest quality of service delivery for best outcomes.

The role profile maps out the skills, knowledge and experience we require to ensure we can provide strong strategic direction and influence that will shape the future of work in Salford. You will be a critical part of the leadership team that delivers on our ambition. If you meet these criteria and think Salford is for you I look forward to meeting you.
