Thank you for considering joining our Salford team.  Salford as a city has changed dramatically in recent years and now is Salford’s time. Join us as our city continues to grow. More people than ever are choosing Salford as a place to live, work, invest and visit and we really are transforming into a modern, global city.

We know that we will have 40,000 new jobs and 40,000 new homes by 2040 and we already have one of the youngest and fastest growing populations in Greater Manchester.  Salford is the home of MediaCityUK and the BBC and also the site of the 5th National RHS garden, Bridgewater. Nevertheless, we are a city of contrasts with some of the most deprived wards in the country, and we are absolutely committed to making sure that all our residents are able to benefit from growth as we better connect our people and place. 

Our vision is to create a better and fairer Salford and provide the best quality of life for our residents. This vision is underpinned by our Great 8 shared priorities which we have developed with our key anchor institutions across the city. Integration and partnership working are at the heart of our approach as we deliver on these strategic priorities.

This really is an exciting time to join team Salford as devolution continues to bring exciting opportunities which we are seizing with both hands. We are at the forefront of a national health revolution that is bringing together health and social care and are proud that our health system is one of the strongest in the country and a reputation to match, with the CCG and Acute Trust both rated as outstanding.

As the first partnership in the country to launch a fully integrated care organisation in 2016, health and social care has really transformed in Salford. Services are now delivered at a neighbourhood level allowing health and care needs to be agreed locally with communities and partners.

We are striding ahead with integrated commissioning arrangements and now also have an integrated health and care fund with the clinical commissioning group of £600 million across children’s services, adults’ services, public health and primary care. This means that we carry out joint planning and decision making and our focus is on quality, safety and better outcomes for the people of Salford.

Working with our partners we have an ambitious locality plan to improve population health through the themes of Start Well, Live Well and Age Well. One of the key roles for you as the Director of Public Health will be to refresh the Locality Plan for Salford, ensuring public health is integrated across all services and health and care outcomes for Salford residents continue to improve.
